Empowering Families Through Early Education
Head Start, Early Head Start, and More – Enroll Today!

Our Head Start program offers comprehensive pre-school education for children ages 3-5, focusing on school readiness, social skills, and holistic development. Through interactive classrooms, health screenings, nutritious meals, and family engagement activities, we prepare children for kindergarten success. As a federally funded initiative by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, we served 379 children last year, emphasizing cultural and linguistic responsiveness for Lea County's diverse families. Parents participate in workshops on parenting, nutrition, and community resources, fostering strong family-school partnerships.

Early Head Start supports pregnant women, infants, and toddlers up to age 3 with early learning experiences that promote healthy development from the start. Options include center-based care at our facilities or home-based visits, covering cognitive, physical, and emotional growth. We provide developmental screenings, parenting education, and connections to health services, helping families build secure attachments and early literacy habits. As part of our commitment to Lea County's youngest residents, this program integrates family support to address economic challenges and empower parents as their child's first teacher.

Our Summer Food Program ensures children ages 1-18 receive nutritious breakfasts and lunches during school breaks, combating hunger and supporting healthy growth. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture via the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, we served 40,172 meals to approximately 1,500 children last summer. Meals highlight fresh, local ingredients with farm-to-table elements, including garden projects where kids learn about healthy eating. Activities may include nutrition education and fun enrichment to keep children engaged.
